CVS Deals – There are almost 30 Extra Bucks Deals this Week!
CVS pharmacy has an excellent customer loyalty program called Extra Bucks which participants receive mailers featuring special coupon offers and health information. They also receive exclusive cardholder savings on select merchandise, and will earn “Extra Bucks” (EBs) for purchases they make during designated shopping periods.
The Extra Bucks are not rebates but actual coupons which print out at the bottom of your receipt when qualifying items are purchased. The EBs can then be used to purchase almost all merchandise sold at CVS with some exceptions including alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards, prescriptions, and special order Home Health Care items, including footwear. The Extra Bucks can be redeemed on purchases in-store or online at CVS.com.
Extra Bucks Step-by-Step Basics
Apply for an Extra Care card by visiting the CVS website.
When you apply for the Extra Care card you will see the question, “Do you wish to receive valuable offers via email?” which you should check “Yes” in order to receive additional coupons and special offers via the Internet along with the mailer you will receive in snail mail.
At the time of purchase give the cashier your Extra Care card so that you can earn your Extra Bucks. If you forget your card you can give the cashier your phone number and she can lookup your account information.
You can earn Extra Bucks Rewards three ways –
1) Earn two percent back with every purchase in-store and online at CVS.com. Excludes purchases of alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards, prescriptions, and special order Home Health Care items, including footwear.
2) Earn one Extra Buck for every two prescriptions purchased in-store and online at CVS.com. Excludes purchases of pharmacy items paid for in whole or in part by state and/or federal health care programs and prescriptions purchased in-store in NJ and NY, and controlled substances in Louisiana.
3) Earn Extra Bucks on select brands advertised in CVS’s weekly ads. Your Extra Bucks will print on your receipt immediately following your qualifying purchase(s) and are redeemable in-store only. Your account will be updated with the above Extra Bucks rewards every three months and will print on your store register receipt, or you can visit CVS.com to print your Extra Bucks online.
Here’s an example of how an Extra Buck Deal works:
M&M’s Valentine Candy are on sale for 2/$5.00
Buy 2 bags and Get a $2.00 ECBs (Limit 1 EB per household)
USE: The $1.00 of 2 M&M’s Bagged Candy from last weeks Sunday paper
FINAL= $1.00 ea. after coupons and ECBs!
Is that clear as mud? CVS is one of my favorite stores because of the Extra Bucks program. They also accept competitor’s coupons for prescriptions AND their rain checks include the Extra Buck Rewards and NEVER expire. How cool is that?!!!
Have a Happy Martin Luther King Day tomorrow!
Frugally yours,
Nina Brannock

The Coupon Lady
Hi! My name is Nina Brannock. I may be known as The Coupon Lady now, but I used to be a coupon skeptic. I honestly thought coupons made you buy items you didn’t need or want. That there was some subliminal marketing hocus pocus that went along with those innocent looking little pieces of paper. Boy, oh boy, was I ever wrong! I am here to tell you something very important – COUPONS ARE CASH! They are not convenient sized pieces of paper to discard your old gum in, they really do add up to BIG savings!
The light bulb went on for me in the juice aisle at Smitty’s back in 1999. As I put my apple juice in my cart, I noticed a very pregnant woman buying juice too. We were close enough that I could see she had a printed piece of paper that she was studying. She proceeded to put 6 bottles of apple juice in her cart. Being the curious person that I am, I approached her to see what she was reading. She explained that it was a report that showed her the sale prices and where to find coupons to match the weekly sales. It informed her that that brand of juice was on sale for .99, and there was a .40 cent coupon to match the sale. Now, I don’t know if many of you remember Smitty’s, but they doubled coupons like several stores still do here in the valley. That meant her .40 cent coupon became an .80 cent coupon, giving her a final price of 19. cents per bottle. My bottle of juice was over $2.00, just for one. Hmmm…she was paying less for 6 bottles than I was paying for one. It didn’t take me long to figure out coupons were a great way to save money on my groceries.
I have made it my goal to share this information with as many people as I can. So if you ever see a crazy lady in the grocery store chasing down someone to give them a coupon to go with that box of Cheerio’s, it’s probably me. Or you may see me driving down the road with my magnetic sign on the back of my car that say’s “Honk if you like to save money”. I’ll honk right back. Betcha I’m on my way to the grocery store to get some great buys.
The Coupon Lady Blog is all about saving money, using coupons and getting great deals!
